anyone on here have a boosted sohc d16 civ or know someoe who does? i was wondering how much boost you can get away with on stock internals with a t3 setup before you go kaboom?

7 psi max is all that I would dare to push, anything over that you would get check engine lights unless you have a missing link.  But, anyways anything over that is asking for trouble.  At least get yourself a thicker head gasket and you could get a little more with an upgraded fuel pump and an AFC..

thanks spinz4, i will keep that in mind when doing the turbo kit. i have the high flow fuel pump and a fpr i am hoping to get away with using just that, another thing about what u said i thought that any boost on the stock ecu would throw a check, maybe i am mistaken?

depends on the motor. D15B wont handle much, the internals are pencil thin. any D16 will handle 8-12psi depending on who tunes it and what you are tuning it with. if you just want a fuel pump and an FPR you wont be able to boost much at all. i'd suggest taking the plunge and getting a hondata and paying for dyno time., you'll love yourself for it later. or you could go the cheap way and end up with a blown motor.

you can get a hondata stage 2-3 w/boost for less than a V-AFC II. its best to use at least a piggyback with a boosted honda, people are detonating even with the FMU's that come with turbo kits, not a good idea to cut corners on fuel control. just my $.02

thanks btown, i didn't know that they were that cheap being around as much as an afc, i thought that a decent setup would run well over a grand at least with either a hondata or haltech, for the good stuff. i will start pricing them right now.

btown is totally right...never cut corners when it comes to tuning...it is by far the most important part of upgrading/performance.
