Looking for Swap
« on: 12:52PM 11/06/2003 »
I've been looking all over the internet to try and find a good dealer that sells JDM Honda/Acura engines. The best one i've found so far is www.inlinefour.com and the only real problem I have with them is that most of their engines have between 25-40k miles on them. I was wondering if anyone knew of a site or business that dealt in JDM Honda/Acura engines that are in good condition with anywhere from 0-25k miles on them. I know its really hard to find a place that sells engines with that low of miles but I really dunno bout a swap if the engine coming in has almost as many miles as the engine going out.

P.S. I'm looking for a JDM B18C GSR engine

P.S. #2 I was just wondering if a Type-R head would be better than keeping the stock head on the GSR.

All I would say is good look finding an engine with less than 30,000 miles on it, unless you buy a new one from Honda/Acura...which would cost you an arm and a leg.

Or you can buy a 30,000 mile motor and then rebuild it so that it does have less mileage than the motor you would be taking out.  This would be what almost everyone would like to do, ie. high compression or low for the perfect turbo setup.

yeah, if you want a motor with less than 30k on it, youre gonna have to buy it brand new from the dealer. inlinefour.com is WAY over priced on their motors, if i remember correctly their 98 spec B18C-R's are about $5,500. www.hmotorsonline.com has good prices on their motors, they have a start up guarante and they guarante all sensors and components. www.jdmhondaparts.com also has good prices, they have a start up guarante, but they don't guarante their sensors. just shop around, i'd also suggest checking out a few local shops about prices and warranty's etc...

Why would you buy a 30k motor and rebuild it.....

If you gonna rebuild it then find a blown motor for 10% of the cost and use the rest of the money to build it. I have tons of blown motor for a couple of hundred bucks that I'll be very happy to sell you instead of you spending 3-4 grand...Just my .02.....

What blown motors do you have? I'm now thinking about going with a ls turbo in my car but if you have a blown gsr(or one that isn't blown up), I wouldn't mind taking it off your hands  ;D
