Transmission
« on: 03:59PM 10/26/2003 »
I just got my new clutch put in on the 9th and then went to hawaii and then got back on the 19th and then drove on it for a few days for the break in period, 500 miles.  I went out to ogden on washington on friday night cuz I was excited to finnaly be able to race a little bit again (actually had about 650 on my new clutch by then).  Everything was great, I loved how the new clutch grabbed and stuff.  But then later in the night I was racin a cougar all the way up from 12th to 36th.  I was wastin him off the line but then higher end he'd catch up.  We turned around and was still playin around a little coming back down and I was power shifting right at redline and one of the times going into 2nd my car jumped and it sounded like I heard something break and the stick became a little more loose feeling, not as springy.  It would still engage into all the gears and stuff. I pulled over to see if maybe my street glow fell off or something and that's what I heard but it wasn't that.  Now it's getting worse to where it feels like the gear box has shifted or something and it's really hard to get the stick to go into 1st or 2nd gear without banging it to the right first, to shift the box or what ever is happening and then I can sometimes get it to get back over into 1st.  When I do get it in, it engages fine and drives fine.  Not sure exactly what is wrong but I have my guesses.  I was wondering if maybe someone over at Speed Tech or something could look at it for me tomorrow (monday) and maybe give me some ideas on what is going on and look at prices for getting it fixed.  Please reply on here and/or call my on my cell asap (628-9305) Name is RJ.  My mom also works at a dealership so I might have them look at it, but would rather have speed tech look first, having more experience with performance parts etc.

Thanks a lot guys, please get ahold of me asap, I don't want it to get any worse.

It could be your clutch...when a clutch is going bad it get harder and harder to shift and gets to the point where you can't shift/change gears.  But, I don't know since I haven't seen or driven the car...just a guess.

Give Rickey a call and ask him if you can bring it in im sure you can but just give speed tech a call in the morning and see when a good time is to bring your car down there.

yea it's not the clutch because it is a brand new clutch (weeks) and it's not hard to get into the gears, like I said when I get it to where it can go in, I can engage all the gears just fine.  Feels more like they are misplaced, gearbox moved/loose or something.  I will be sure to get it over there tomorrow and find out what's goin on.

It was what I thought it was.  I had just busted a support pin that holds the shift box in place.  People kept trying to tell me there was something wrong inside my tranny, shift linkage and s h i t but I was pretty sure it was just a busted bolt or somethin cuz i heard somethin break when I was racing.  All better now.
