my car was stolen last night
« on: 08:20AM 09/11/2003 »
last night, my girlfriend came to visit me at the dorms up at the U. i went outside when she got here and i noticed she parked in the row accross from my car. we went back to this party for about 20 minutes, then decided to go get some food. we walked to my dorm and i dropped off my skateboard, went back out to the parking lot and a saturn SUV was sitting where my car was, no broken glass anywhere. we thought maybe someone had moved it as a joke, so we walked around the whole lot and it was nowhere. I called the cops and they arrived about 10 minutes later, got all my info, searched the lot again, then called it out as a stolen vehicle. after they left we drove around for 2 hours seeing if we could find it and had no luck. this morning i got a call at 8:30 from the university police saying they it had been found on 2000 W 1100 N, completely stripped inside and out.

i'm pretty pissed off about this, it was taken from a very well lit parking lot between 9:15 and 9:45, with the doors locked and alarm armed.  if anyone knows of someone selling Si seats or wheels or radio then please let me know asap. i have no idea as of yet what was taken out of it, all they said was stripped inside and out. and if anyone know's who took it, give them a good a s s whuppin for me, then notify the police.

Holly sh!t, your car was stolen from the dorms at the U...I thought they were suppose to be monitoring those parking lots day and night.  Sounds like they found your car in a pretty rough area in North Salt Lake.  I'm glad they found your car, but it really sucks that they stripped it.  It seems really strange that there wasn't any broken glass or anything.  I'll keep my eyes opened...sorry.

yeah, i'll keep monitoring ebay and honda-tech for people selling Si parts.  keep an eye out for an Si gauge cluster with 92,000 miles on it, its probably the only Si cluster you'll see with that kind of mileage, so if anyone knows of one that someone is trying to sell, please let me know.

im going to go check out the car in about an hour and see what else is missing, but i think if i can find the cluster, then i'll find the culprits. it has the VIN on it and everything, so that's what i'm looking for right now.

i was suprised too, the lots are so well lit that i wouldn't think anyone would even try to take a car from there. especially at 9:30pm. from the time i last saw my car to when i discovered it was missing it was only 20 minutes, so someone either had to have a key, or really knew what they were doing. thanks for the concern.

That's a really good point bballracer...if someone was able to drive away in your car that easily I would think that they had a key to it or something.  I hope that something turns up for you soon.

If i were u B i would go and get a report from carfax or dmv or were ever and look at all the old owners they might have details but even if the alarm as on even if they had a key the alarm would still sound because they dont have the remote to turn it off unless they poped your hood and cut the wire. they couldnt do that if u had the alarm wired to your trunk my dads a P I (private investigator) if you need anything he might be able to help out but i keep checking ebay for u so well see what happens

Holy s h i t!  :o  That sucks.  I agree.  Sounds like someone with a key.  Did you buy it from a dealership or a person?  I'm worried for the same thing.  I know when I bought my car I only got one key and one alarm button.  I know there's a second of both out there somewhere.

Sorry to hear the bad news.  Hope you catch 'em  :-\

here's an update:

the car can't be salvaged, they vandalized the s h i t out of it and the estimate is already past $8,000 just in parts. that's not including engine repair because they tried to get the VTEC solenoid off and f u c k e d up the head, and there are still parts that they havent looked over. the way they got in was they peeled the window, pushed it of the rails and broke the ignition. there's blood all over the steering wheel and on the window switches, so i dunno if the cops want to investigate that or not. they took my strut bar, rear view mirrors, front and rear seats, speakers, side skirts, front lip, rear spoiler, tail lights, owner's manual, garage door opener's, an air freshener that my mom gave me for christmas, and fuel pressure gauge, all of that plus vandalism. so keep on the look out for those parts. my parent's have to get their garage door opener's changed because they took the opener's i had in my car and i had documents with the address on it. i seriously don't understand how someone can find so much joy in ruining other people's lives, but there's not much i can do now, just hope they get caught.

i'll get pictures up by this weekend.

Well if the cops were smart they would run the dna from the blood through the computers and see if a match comes up and rum the fingerprints because if there was blood they obviously (or probably wernt wearing gloves so they werent that smart. and even if they find out who it is there is no guarintee (cant speel tonight) that ull get it all back if there broke a s s guys and if u sue them whos gonna pay to get ur stuff back
Good luck with it all dude and i cant honestly say i know what ur going through but everybody on here loves there rides and would hate to have this happen so u know we all got ur back in anyway well all keep an eye out

yeah, unfortunately you can't run a DNA sample through a computer and find a name. they need a suspect and they need a sample from him before they can test the DNA from my car. it's basically a lost cause unless i can find the parts. even if i do get all the stuff back, the car probably can't be salvaged. right now the estimate on restoring it back to the way it was is going to cost more than what i bought it for.

WOW! This story sounds like what happened to me except they didn't get my car......I feel soooo lucky right now! I feel sorry for you and hopefully you have it insured. I bet someone was watching your car, looking out for it. They stole it in a period of 20 minutes, geeze they must have been just waiting for you to leave then pranced at the opportunity to steal it. Sorry and I'll be looking out for your stuff.

Dude I'm so d a m n sorry.  I hope things get better for you.  Mine was broken into last night and almost stolen.  It would have, had it not been for that new ECU.
It's so frustrating to know that there are a s s h o l e s out there not willing to work for anything and they screw everyone who actually works hard for their stuff over.  I just hope those dickheads get theirs in the end.
