How expensive are MR2's to maintain?

How expensive? They are Toyotas so you wouldn't think much but being MR2's I dunno. These things break often? Expensive to fix? etc.

Pheonix, I am lookin to you man, haha.

suprisingly no, they are not expensive to fix.  now serious performance parts (not ebay specials) can get extremely expensive for small power gains.  but when you have a 300hp mr2 and you can get into the 11's easy, it can be worth it.  And yes, you can hit 300hp on stock internals.

now yes, they are more expensive when you compare them too civic and del sol parts, but they are not too bad.

as far as mainting a 91 or so mr2, most people have to deal with struts, ignition parts (plugs and wires), and in alot cases of high mileage, the turbo.  which all of these can be changed with about 700 bucks.

i can go on for hours with this

honestly, there really isnt major problems with them yet.  as long as you take care of the engine maintenance regularily, youll be good.

some simple stuff that goes out is struts, stock radio, power steering relay (easy fix), worn out seats, and steering wheel.

the steering wheel as a recall on it, which you get one for free.  The A/C will go out if its not already because of a bad valve but that has a recall too, again for free at the local toyota dealership.

Awesome, got approved for the loan today....it has some pretty serious rock chips on the from and fenders, but the interior and stuff is CLEAN, even the seats. I'll check on those 2 recalls for sure...Now you're gunna have to bring me back a bunch of badass JDM stuff for it, haha.

i guess i should of told you about the e-brake cable too.  it does have a tendancy to freeze on people due to the age of the car.....the rubber boot on the cable eventually detiorates and the moisture in the cable will freeze in cold temps.

most people dont use there e-brake when its cold outside.......thats all.

not much you can do

if its not bad, it will drag for a little bit and then come unstuck.....maybe.  if not, you gotta wait till it thaws out and hope the cable didnt break or anything and the brakes come off.

if not.....brake out the ol wire cutters and have at it.....and waste 70 bucks and a few hours of install time.

nice, looks beyond clean :). The reason I am asking is because w/ the rock chips and s h i t I have, it'd be nice to get a paint job sumtime of the next couple of years, would be nice to know a good shop.

i can recommend 2 shops

1 is the shop that i worked at in ogden called D&B body and paint.  They do outstanding body work.  They do a great job painting as long as you dont rush them.  If you give them the car and say you need it back in 3 days, they will rush and not take there time.  so if you give it to them, give them a little time and it will come out perfect.  They are a little cheaper than most shops and are great guys.

the second shop will do a perfect job, they by far do the best work in the area.  people know this and they know it too so there prices are through the roof.  they are located on the side of the highway when your driving north to layton.  i think the town is farmington and if your looking, you cant miss them.  i forgot the name of the place or i would tell you.

lol I didn't realise I posted w/ Staats account, he should ot keep it on this PC cuz I am too lazy to sign out then back in. BUT They did my old man's truck and it's a horrible job. They actually GLUED his f-250 emblems on when they came like popped in. They broke them pullin em off and then on top of that paint chips and s h i t. He let them have it for like 4-5 months too. They are a PoS place, I dislike them, lol.
