Clutch Replacement
« on: 09:38AM 07/21/2003 »
I was wondering if anyone could give me a rough estiment on the cost to replace a clutch. I know the labor is whats more expensive than the actual clutch because they have to pull the whole motor and what not.
She also needs new brake pads but I can do that myself. And also, any advice on flushing a radiator? Little monster isnt too happy about driving cross country in one day.  :-\
thanks guys

It will be about $350 in labor alone...that is the normal charge anywhere...you may find somewhere cheaper but make sure they know what they are doing.

I always have done my own clutch replacements. But I have been quoted 300-450 for the job

They don't need to pull the motor, they just drop the tranny.  Clutches aren't too expensive for older cars.  To flush the radiator just climb under it and look for a plug in the radiator, put a DEEP pan under it and take the plug out, when the motor is cold of course and take the radiator cap out of the top of the radiator and throw it away.  When all the fluid is drained out flush it with fresh water until you feel safe about it.  Put the plug back in the bottom and full it up, putting a new radiator cap on.
To really understand something you must blow it up, and  fully examine the tiny particles while they are still on fire.
