LSD's
« on: 06:04PM 06/25/2003 »
I have a 3G mitsu eclipse.  I'll be getting RIPP MODS SDS (supercharger) in the future and I know that I'll need a LSD...I've seen two different ones.  Theres a slip in LSD-which is a Centrifugal Slip in Differential (CSD) and the other one is KAAZ Full Limited Slip Differential.  The price difference is about $500...which one is a better choice...any suggestions.

the centrifugal ones don't work that well still lots of slip get a kaaz or if you have a lot of cash to blow get a quaife which is probably your best bet. whatever you do don't get a "phantom grip" they are garbage.

Thanks for the input on the lsd's...I saw that quaife makes one up to '99, but I haven't seen anything for the 3G's.

Go with the quaife.  The Kaaz has some messed up routine that you have to go through to break it in...doing figure eights for x amount of miles.  The phantom grip piece of hud.  The quiafe will run you around $900, but they work great, and I know of cars that have about 60,000 miles on quaife and it's still working great.

Does anyone know were or if the quaife is available? I was looking at the one the have for the 2G and it looks nice and they have limited lifetime warranties (even if you race your car).

JD,  I have a 3g which has the RIPP SDS.  I should be getting it back today.  I have the Kaaz LSD  the other one is going to be ok if you want a 1/2 assed LSD.  If your a member of club 3g i would do a search there.  It's awsome to see another 3g member around here making their s h i t fast.  what else do you have done?

SCx, what eclipse do you have...I would like to see how that set-up looks and know what kind of hp and torque results you get.  Is your car going to be in the elite rides 1st annual car show? I only have an after market muffler and the injen short ram intake for performance and alpine CD deck, bouston acoustic speakers, and TYC diamond cut clear tails.
