Fate of the RSX
« on: 05:03PM 03/17/2005 »
Well I was just reading on ClubRSX.com and came across that 2006 might be the last year for the RSX/Integra.  To me this was kind of a shock but now I guess things are making more since.

I was confused when Honda showed the new Civic SI having the 200Hp K20a2 I-VTEC on board.  This confused me since the RSX Type S has the same motor but with 10 more horses.  Honda wouldn't have the Civic and RSX compete with each other.  So it looks like the RSX is getting the Axe and the SI is replacing it.  At least on cheap performance end of things.

There is a rumor of a TSX coupe coming out in 2007 and that would replace the RSX in the Acura model line.  Acura is moving more and more up scale and well its sad to say but the RSX isn't up scale.

Although we don't know what the true fate of the RSX will be it will be interesting to see what happens with it.  Motor Trend reports that the RSX will be have a new model for 2007.

I think it would be cool if Honda brings a Limited special edition RSX out for its final year in the form of the 225HP Integra Type R.  That would really shock the Domestic SRT-4 and Cobalt SS.

Anymore thoughts.

Honestly, I can't say that I'm sad to see it go.  I never was a fan of the RSX.  It just didn't look right to me.  They made huge improvments in 05 with the restyling of the lights and tail lights, but its too little too late.

And What will replace the RSX in the Acura Line up, i really dont think it will be the end...because i mean the Civic SI and the RSX are in ways the same and there both still around..

lol  Just call me bitter for having it replace the beautiful Integra and Prelude.  I could get used to an 05 model, but they really should have made it like that in 02 when it first hit the street.  I would have liked it a lot more if they had made them this way.

I am tired of Honda/Acura holding back what we really want. THE TYPE R..... Seriously we all know about it and I know every single one would sell as soon as it hit the lot. Any way I am sad to see the RSX go I love those cars, smooth as silk.

Rumor is that there will be a TSX coupe coming out in 2007 and that will replace the RSX.  Like I said Acura is moving all its line up scale.  and theres noway they can have a upscale sport coupe for under $25,000.

And right now the diffrence is big between the SI and Type S at least.  The SI only has the 160HP I-VTEC (your motor Kim) and the Type S is 200HP.  Plus the SI is a small hatchback and the RSX is sport coupe.  With it looking like the new SI is going to be a coupe again with the Type S motor that puts it right perfect as a RSX replacement as the Sport Coupe in Hondas line.

huge improvements?? They made the headlights look like a freakin dodge status R/T, i hated what they did to them in 05, i have loved that car since it came out. I met a kid last night with a black turbo k20a2, gold rims... oh man!!! so nice.

the PRELUDE!!!! oh man.. hideous car (no offense jon) but i did not like them.. heavy slow and the dash that was 300 feet long...

I've been saving my money for a turbocharger and engine build for 7 months now... And it's all going to pay off when I put you in your place. ;) :P

<edit> Yeah...the dash is a little nuts. But it grew on me.

When it comes to cars, you have three options: Fast, Cheap, and Reliable. And you can only pick two.

nope, different motor. base RSX doesnt have i-VTEC.

the civic and integra (RSX) have been "competing" since the teg was introduced. thats why acura was created in the first place. the only reason honda would discontinue the RSX would be to introduce a new model, or new version of the RSX under a different name.

Actually it does.  there are only 2 models in the RSX line.  the base and the Type S.  The Type S has the 210Hp K20A2 I-VTEC.  The base RSX and the Civic SI both have the 160Hp K20A3 I-VTEC.  It isn't the pure race I-VTEC that the Type S or the Type R has.  It just the new Economy I-VTEC but it is I-VTEC none the less.  All K series VTEC's are I-VTEC.  Just look at Kim's RSX.  hers is a base and it says I-VTEC right on the engine.

They can't please everybody.  The RSX hasn't appealed to me until they made the changes in 05.  One man's junk is another man's treasure I guess.
