obd2 weirdness
« on: 01:48AM 05/31/2003 »
our lancer isn't throwing a check engine without the cat in... wtf? the downstream o2 is stuck in the pipe but the cat is gone... usually at least on german cars they are sensitive as f u c k, anybody else find anything with this? i got lots of buddies with obd-2 cars still who would probably like to know...

It should have shortly after the cat was removed.  Maybe Mitsu made a dummy plug lol
To really understand something you must blow it up, and  fully examine the tiny particles while they are still on fire.

modern garage might have bypassed the O2 when you had the exhaust done. i know they do that sometimes because they get a lot of complaints from ricer's that dont know how their car works.
They tell you shadows are the place to hide, but listen: No one looks into the sun.

it went on today... d a m n jap cars just come wasted from the factory, slow reaction times lol!

only way to "bypass" the o2 is to build a circuit that simulates the voltage and current of an o2 sensor... a black box.

i'm workin on em so everybody runnin around with check engines that'll come to an end soon PS high flow cats suck!

there's also a method thats most commonly used where you solder a resistor into one of the O2 sensor wires, i forget the details. there's also a "black box" system already available called Missing Link.

you realize that you can get everything inside one of those black boxes for about 70 cents at radioshack? lol

i will probably sell mine for 10-15 each with a fuse inside as well to protect your ecu from power surges, just because of the time i have spent riding around in cars banging my head on the dash trying to read the multimeter, and the fact that i will be hand building each one so there is some labor involved.

10 bucks isn't so bad tho to make that pesky check engine light and wierd ecu behavior go away.

I can help you make them if you want pete, I have basic soldering skills.  Not to mention, I will be needing one in a bit, hehe

yeah well i started the project just to help out andy colburn, but he b i t c h e d out on removing them after i had already put in a bunch of labor, so i might as well just keep at it.
